The President Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He noted that he conversed with her family and they were âdeeply grievingâ.
Background on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The president stated heâs discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
âI stated: âWhen youâre prepared, because thatâs a difficult moment, visit the White House. Weâre going to pay tribute to her,â the president informed the press. âAnd similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.â
Public Response
Mourners gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trumpâs national effort to support policing efforts in DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
âSarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,â the principal, the leader of Beckstromâs alma mater, stated to the media. âShe was caring, caring and always willing to support those in need.â
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident led the government to halt refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is âbattling to surviveâ, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channelâs The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.
âShe had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,â Morrisey addressed the crowd at the vigil. âThough her life was cut short, she has made an impact thatâs going to endure.â
